Upper Juniors

Class teacher: Mrs Worth Teaching assistant: Mrs Feeney Year groups: Years 5 and 6

Upper Juniors is the final stage of your child's primary journey — and at South Darley, it's taught by Mrs Worth. Having such an experienced class teacher means your child benefits at a time when it matters most: preparing for secondary school and sitting their Key Stage 2 assessments.

Mrs Worth is supported by our teaching assistants, and together they make sure every child in Years 5 and 6 is challenged, supported and ready for the next step. Children continue to build on the four-year topic rotation, deepen their reading and maths skills, and take on greater responsibilities — from leading collective worship to representing the school in sports competitions and community events.

The Year 6 leavers traditionally move on to Highfields School in Matlock or Lady Manners School in Bakewell, well-prepared and confident. At South Darley, your child won't be one of many — they'll leave as someone who has been truly known.
