South Darley C.E. Primary School’s uniform is dark grey trousers or a dark grey skirt, a red jumper or sweatshirt, and a plain white shirt or white polo shirt, with black shoes (not trainers). The school logo is optional on the jumper, fleece, shirt and PE T-shirt. Most items can be bought from My Clothing online, and our PTA (Friends of South Darley School) runs a second-hand uniform sale.

Everyday uniform

• Dark grey trousers or a dark grey skirt
• Red jumper or sweatshirt, with optional school logo
• Optional red fleece, with optional school logo
• Plain white shirt or white polo shirt, with optional school logo
• Black shoes (not trainers)
• In summer: optional dark grey shorts, an optional red and white checked dress, and white socks
• In winter: red, grey or black tights
• Red book bag with the school logo (your child’s first book bag is provided by the school)

PE kit

• Red shadow-stripe PE shorts
• White PE T-shirt, with optional school logo
• Trainers for outdoor PE
• In winter: optional black or grey jogging bottoms, and an optional red fleece
• A hair bobble to tie back long hair
• White, red or grey PE socks, for children who normally wear tights
• Optional red PE bag with the school logo

Swimming (juniors)

A towel, a swimming costume (not a bikini) or swimming trunks (not shorts), and a swim hat.

Sun hats

A plain red sun hat (legionnaire’s or bucket style recommended), with optional school logo. Each child’s first sun hat is kindly provided by our PTA (Friends of South Darley School). Own-style sun hats are a privilege for Years 5 and 6. Please don’t send your child in open-toed sandals in summer.

Labels, jewellery and bags

Please label every item of clothing, footwear, drinks bottles and lunch boxes: there are a lot of identical items. For safety, long hair must be tied back, and earrings and other jewellery can’t be worn for swimming and PE. If you’re planning to have your child’s ears pierced, the start of the summer holidays is the best time, so they can heal before school; please speak to the headteacher in exceptional circumstances. School bags other than book bags are a privilege for Year 6.

Our PTA (Friends of South Darley School) runs a second-hand uniform sale, at £1 an item. To buy, email FOSDSPTA@gmail.com with the items you’d like and your child’s name. To donate, drop outgrown uniform at the school office, freshly washed and bagged.
