SEN
At South Darley, every child's needs are recognised and supported. We follow the SEN Code of Practice and Equality Act 2010 to make sure children with special educational needs or disabilities (SEND) receive the help they need to thrive. We use different interventions and approaches to address specific areas of need, and we look carefully at each child's individual circumstances when deciding how best to support them.
Our SEND Information Report gives more detail on how we support children with additional needs. Our Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo) is Jennie Gill, who can be contacted through the school office (01629 732240, office@southdarley.derbyshire.sch.uk).
More information on support available within Derbyshire can be found on the Derbyshire Local Offer website.
Where a child needs additional support, this is arranged within the normal school day. Our SEND policy is reviewed annually by the governors, and the progress of children with special educational needs is reviewed regularly with parents. We are a fully inclusive school — we welcome children of all abilities and disabilities, monitor and review our Accessibility Plan, and make sure every child is appropriately challenged, including those with particular gifts and talents.
